Nihavent Parallel Hybrid İntegration

Nihavent was manufactured in 1998 as 70 feet wooden boat created in the form of gullet. It is driven by 280 hp diesel engine.
By use of this engine, it has ability to cruise at a speed of maximum 8.5 sea miles per hour at 1100 rpm.
The yacht was equipped with electric hybrid application in parallel with a diesel engine by Zero Emission Institute.
The information and application plan regarding these operations are additionally explained below.


The yacht that has been taken from the dry-dock area is put onshore by use of a crane for propeller control and hull
maintenance. This operation is performed as per order. In the case that hull maintenance is not requested,
the operation for hybrid application may be performed during afloat position. In this operation, hull cleaning
and the application of toxicants are additionally requested and executed.

The yacht whose hull has been cleaned is taken on cradle and then the transfercase and engine whose estimate and
research &development studies have been completed are disassembled. These operations also provide us with the
opportunity to maintain and renew the stable components. Maintenance is carried out on the transfercase,
drive shaft and exhaust system that have been taken to the factory.

Later, the Zero Emission twindisc transfercase whose proper measurements and specified torque have been
determined is assembled to the engine flange. For the axial displacement probabilities, new drive shafts are
included and the transfercase is positioned in appropriate values with the propeller shaft;
and the measurements are fixed.

The transfercase, electric engine and shafts whose maintenances have been completed and measurements determined
are fixed on their places. The lithium-ion battery groups and Zero Emission Institute power management system are
mounted to the system of the yacht. An 1100 rpm 80 kwa electric engine is used for the installed power estimated
by the system of Zero Emission Institute and the required stable speed.

The mechanical parts whose installation has been completed and the maintained exhaust system are assembled.
The cooling system of electric engine is engaged and the tests are performed.
At the same time, the controls are exercised on the bilge and other pump systems.

The components whose regarding tests have been completed become ready for cruise tests.
The yacht is taken from the cradle and is launched and the process for sea tests is started. According to the test results,
only with the support of battery groups 1100 rpm and 7.5 sea mile cruise has been achieved by use of
electrical energy on the whole.
